Summer Camp: Journey to Abstraction

(from Realism through Expressionism)

June 13-16th
Monday – Thursday

  • $250 - All materials and supplies are included
  • Students should bring a sack lunch and a water bottle (Monday to Wednesday only)
  • Pizza lunch provided on Thursday with drinks and dessert (it's my birthday!)
  • Appropriate for kids entering 3nd – 8th grade in the fall (some flexibility, call to inquire)
  • Camp is held at Redbrick Art Studio, 602 E Garden Avenue in Coeur d'Alene

Each day we will learn about different artists who worked in realism, expressionism, abstract expressionism, and abstraction, analyzing the evolution of individual style.  Students will create a series of pieces developing representational artwork into more simplified and expressive forms with an authentic, individual style.  We will study a mix of male and female artists, and venture out from the artists most commonly studied in school.  (Don't worry, we'll also cover some favorites).  We will work with a variety of mediums to create a collection of sketches and finished artwork to bring home.
